Cat Thompson - National Collegiate Basketball Player of the Year for 1929, Four-Time All-American (1927, 28, 29 and 30), and member of the famed Golden Bobcats of Montana State College.

                        

The Helms Athletic Foundation of Los Angeles, California honored John Ashworth “Cat” Thompson (1906-1990) for his accomplishments as a college basketball player by designating him:

A member of the Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame.
A member of the All-Half Century (1900-1950) Collegiate Basketball Team.
A member of the All-Time All-American Collegiate Basketball Team.
A Collegiate All-American for 1927, 1928, 1929 and 1930.
The Collegiate National Player of the Year for 1929.
